Coast Guard and State Support

Auxiliary Members are authorized assignment to duty to assist and to augment administrative functions of any United States Coast Guard unit. For the Division 3 members, most of this is accomplished with the Gulfport, Pascagoula or Mobile Station Coast Guard unit. Foremost among those administrative functions augmented recently by Auxiliary members have been radio communication watch standing, safety patrols, search and rescue patrols, regatta patrols, aids to navigation patrols and marine environmental patrols. Nearly all patrols carried out by the Auxiliary have been conducted using operational facilities (boats) owned and operated by flotilla members. During these patrols, the facilities are under Coast Guard Orders and are classified as Government Facilities. As such, they qualify for reimbursement for fuel, ice and other incidental expenses including meals for crew members. The opportunities to assist and augment administrative and operational functions of the United States Coast Guard are limited only by the capability and the time the Auxiliary Member can provide.
